This is a hybrid system in which polyurethane resin, cement and selected aggregate are used together. Because the coefficient of thermal expansion of cement is close to that of concrete, the coating and the floor move together under temperature change. This property has made the system the standard in plants where steam cleaning is carried out.
It can withstand washing with hot water and steam at up to around 100 °C followed by rapid cooling. While epoxy systems separate from the floor in these conditions because of the difference in expansion, polyurethane cement retains its integrity.
